What do I do for Opt-out students?
- A student can increase their grade by showing mastery of the content. It cannot lower a grade by the score. Be certain that opt out students have that same opportunity to raise their grade.
- Someone who opts out should be given an alternate assignment/activity. There are resources out there if you do not want to create this from scratch.
- You cannot offer any reward or points to those who take the test that is not available to those who opt out.
- Grading participation on an assignment/test is allowable. It needs to be something that happens in the classroom all year.
- Evidence of participation on the test can include:
- a. Time spent on the test
- b. Scratch paper filled out. (blank scratch paper or graph paper can be used).
